Bad Day!

1.  Had morning duty in the auditorium with 400 7th graders.

2. Had to proctor a test.  2 1/2 hours staring into space.

3. Gave blood for the first (and perhaps last) time.  Four or five people came, gave blood, and went, in the time it took me to squeeze out a pint.  When I finally got up, my co-workers cheered.

4.  Had a meeting after school that lasted 2 hours.

5. Had to stop at the stupid grocery store.

On the other hand, Sharyn November is going to send me some books!

*shudders* Well done! I have a friend who gave blood recently. I'm too scared of needles!

Sharyn rocks, doesn't she?

She rocks, indeed. She asked me if I have teens at my library who might want to read for Firebirds. Is that what you do?

Yep, I've been a teen reader for 5 years. I've only just realised just how long that is. Omg! I think I'll still pretend to be a teen for a bit when I get too old. It's too fun to stop.

That is so cool. Tell me what you do, so I can tell the teens I have in mind. How does it work?

Well, she emails me articles, reviews of new books, manuscripts and asks me what I think. She asks us what we're reading and what we like/dislike and why/why not etc. I occasionally email her to tell her about British chocolate and to ask questions.

It was after I read The Thief that I found a link to Sharyn on MWT's website. And I found a poll for readers aged 11-18. So I sent it off and she asked me if I wanted to be a teen reader. She asked me what I thought of Sherwood Smith's Crown Duel from the first chapter on the Firebird site and I said I liked it. So she sent me the book. And it's one of my favourites.

Nice. Happy. Beginning.

That is really cool. So, at some point you gave her your real name and address so she could send you books? The reason I ask is that I have younger teens at my library and obviously they are going to want to chek with their parents before giving out any info like that. I wasn't sure if it was all done via email or not. Thanks, emerald!

Yes, i gave her address by email (was good and asked parents first). I think you have to be 13 or over anyway.
