Part-time Indian

I'm reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie.  I've heard only good things about this book and have been wanting to read it for ages.  It won the 2007 National Book Award.  I don't usually post before I've finished a book but wanted to describe my reactions so far, at about 2/3 of the way through.

I haven't communicated any of the humor and sarcasm that runs through the narration.  Without it, the subject matter would be too grim for a lot of young readers.
