Beach

I've said for years that I'd like to live closer to the coast but I don't know if I really could. My hair was a curly, frizzy mess the entire time I was there. Someone said, "I didn't know hair could stick out in so many directions." My hair and I are back to normal today.

Saw three lighthouses and climbed to the top of one (257 steps, yes, as tall as a 12-story building, ouch my legs hurt) and the weather was perfect. I stole this idea from emmaco and this is where I spent a lot of time:

It was not crowded, which was very nice. I climbed Hatteras, which is the one on the right. I was pretty proud of myself. The pain didn't start until the next day. :)

Climbing lighthouses makes me think of climbing cupolas in Italy. Belltower after cupola after cupola...all those tall, pretty churches. :-) The views are totally worth it, though.

Looks lovely! Glad you had a good time, and glad you're back. (I go back in two weeks too! O_O)

I'm resigned to going back. I predict that in about a week I'll begin to feel excited about it. The beginning of the school year is always fun. *hearts new little 6th graders*

More like easily intimidated...moulded...inspired. The corruption doesn't seem to start until 7th grade, and it isn't my fault. They do that to themselves.

You don't have waves?

The waves were HUGE one day. I was hot and went out just a little ways into the water. It was really only up to my knees. Or so I thought. An enormous wave came in, went over my head and knocked me down. I scraped my knee on the sand, which was very pebbly. :( I probably looked like an idiot, too, but that's nothing new.

It did, however, cool me right off.

if you step into the sea at shin level the waves reach your thigh and the big ones reach your.. lower abdomen. the waves here are so mild it's pathetic.

The lounge chair in the water looks like my idea of heaven. Just needs Costis delivering periodic iced drinks to make it perfect perfect perfect.

:D No, but I did get my book a bit wet one day. Luckily it dried ok, as it was one from my media center.
