Need help, please!

I want to play a game with my book club, and I need the names of really well-known characters from children's fantasy and sci fi books.   Ones that most of the kids will have heard of.

So far I've come up with Frodo, Dumbledore, King Arthur, Hermione Granger, Artemis Fowl, Alex Rider, Merlin.  Who else who else???  I'd like to have both male and female characters and I'd prefer not to use generic fairy tale characters like Cinderella.  But some of these kids are only 11 and I'm not sure yet how well-read they are.

(I'll put the names on sticky labels and each kid will get one stuck to their backs.  They have to figure out who they are by asking other kids only yes or no questions.)

Thanks, everyone!

Alice of Wonderland fame? Not sure if she's too generic for your purposes.

Any of the Pevensies from Narnia? They're not as well known, but there was the movie not too long ago.

Wilbur or Charlotte from Charlotte's Web? I don't know if you consider those fantasy.

James, from the Giant Peach?

Peter Pan! Wendy, Captain Hook.

Matilda? That was a movie too (sad that that's my measure of "what will kids know...")

Meg Murray from A Wrinkle in Time?

Dorothy from Oz? Or the Tin Man or Scarecrow?

Some of the kids from A Series of Unfortunate Events, or Count Olaf?

Do you think any of them would have heard of Ender?

I really, really LIKE your icon.

Ditto - I don't know much about this age group so these and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are the only other ones I know of that 11 year olds read.
