Friday! (almost)
May. 24th, 2007 10:18 pmI finally finshed Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I'm glad I read it. The bittersweet ending surprised me. Is there a sequel in the works?
Edit: Yes, there will be a sequel, according to the author's website.
Yesterday the fire alarm went off at school just before dismissal time. Everyone went outside and the fire department responded. Some workmen were welding in the building and there really was a fire, although it was small. Three big trucks responded and somehow another staff member and I ended up directing traffic in the school drive. Parents were pulling in to pick up their little darlings and some of them were not pleased that they couldn't get in the car pool lane because of the trucks. One car pulled in and tried to go around the others. When she couldn't, she backed all the way up the driveway, to the main road, then blew in through the exit lane. Did I mention we were standing in the exit lane? We tried to stop her but she blasted past us and if we hadn't jumped out of the way she might have hit us.
The whole scene was chaos--no one else was out there helping us--and now the resource police officer wants us to press charges against this driver.
*headdesk*
Do y'all wonder sometimes if I make this stuff up? It's truly amazing what goes on in a school.
Have to give another standardized test tomorrow. Another 115 minutes of staring into space. But then a three-day weekend!
I'm trying something here. Can anyone read this?
