This afternoon:

Coworker:  Don't walk down by the cafeteria.
Me:  Why?
Coworker:  Evidently, some kid left his lunch in his locker over the two-week break.
Me:  Ick, I bet that smells pretty bad.
Coworker:  Oh, that's not all.  When another kid smelled it, he threw up in the hall.  So yeah, don't walk down by the cafeteria if you don't have to.
Me:  *hides under desk*

I hear we had some interesting fungus growing in our flat on some dishes one of my roomies didn't have time to clean... she says it was rainbow-colored!

Eww. A similar thing happened to me while in college. We came back after Christmas and the roommate who was supposed to wash the dishes before leaving hadn't. When we moved them, lots of roaches came scurrying out. That was the beginning of my roach phobia, and an *incident* that happened a few years later clinched it for me.

For that very reason, I wouldn't really hide under my desk.

Today we purposely left a very strong flowery candle in the Word Processing room of our library (unlit, of course -- it still has a strong smell) because some patrons complained about the smell left by another patron. Sad, really -- this happens a lot. No vomit so far, though, so I guess we're ahead. (c:

We have all these crazy rules about scented things. Because of kids' allergies, we're not allowed to have scented soap, sprays, etc. You can have antibacterial wipes or liquid, but that's about it. If you keep lotion, it has to be in your purse, not on your desk or even in a drawer. I flaunt most of them, as they don't have anyone who goes around to check. But really. When did it come to all that? There's a huge binder of OSHA dos and don'ts.

...ugh. The perils of middle school!

Today was much better! It was a happy day. :)

Yay! Any particular reason?

Not really. It was a really busy day at work, but busy in a good, dealing with a lot of nice kids-way. I got someone to read QoA and he came in and said, "I can't believe THAT HE GOT HIS HAND CUT OFF OH MY GOSH." :)
