This afternoon:

Coworker:  Don't walk down by the cafeteria.
Me:  Why?
Coworker:  Evidently, some kid left his lunch in his locker over the two-week break.
Me:  Ick, I bet that smells pretty bad.
Coworker:  Oh, that's not all.  When another kid smelled it, he threw up in the hall.  So yeah, don't walk down by the cafeteria if you don't have to.
Me:  *hides under desk*

Today we purposely left a very strong flowery candle in the Word Processing room of our library (unlit, of course -- it still has a strong smell) because some patrons complained about the smell left by another patron. Sad, really -- this happens a lot. No vomit so far, though, so I guess we're ahead. (c:

We have all these crazy rules about scented things. Because of kids' allergies, we're not allowed to have scented soap, sprays, etc. You can have antibacterial wipes or liquid, but that's about it. If you keep lotion, it has to be in your purse, not on your desk or even in a drawer. I flaunt most of them, as they don't have anyone who goes around to check. But really. When did it come to all that? There's a huge binder of OSHA dos and don'ts.
