Boy, did I need a spring break.  It was super-productive.  Some of the things I did:

• Cleaned all kinds of crap out of the attic.  Took a load to the dump (this is fun--you get to throw your crap into a huge bin, and it is oh-so-gratifying) and a load to Goodwill.
• Ordered new carpet for a spare bedroom that mr. checkers is repainting.
• Got a new light fixture for the kitchen to replace the one mr. checkers broke while emptying the dead bugs out of it.
• Bought dress for Easter, and some "shapewear".  Trying on "shapewear" involves a real workout.  The stuff is made of iron, I swear.  But goodness, how it "shapes".
• Browsed the Internet for potential kittens.  :)
• Got the new work laptop ready to use.
• Sat out in the sun.  A lot.
• Went to the gym.
• Worked in the yard.
• Played hours of Zelda Skyward Sword.
• Started some craft projects.  Didn't manage to finish any, yet.  Here are some pictures, because god only knows how long it might take to finish them.

I'm making a headstone for Ozzie's grave.  It's concrete, with mosaic and will have his name and dates on it.  Here's what I've got so far, laid out on white paper.



I've been working on this wall hanging thingie for awhile now.  AWHILE, people.  It's corks from bottles of wine, and I've been saving them for years, I am not a wino, I swear.  I'm gluing them to an old cabinet door I got from the Durham Scrap Exchange.  Champagne corks are at the top.  :)



Sticking to the wine motif, I drilled holes in the cool wine bottles, and will fill them with twinkle lights.  The bottles of Two Cocky Sisters will go to mr. checkers' sisters, who are cocky indeed.  :)





How am I ever going to go back to work on Monday?

My school, for some weird reason, had "spring break" week before last. I had a bunch of personal leave yet, so I took the Friday before and the Monday after off. And then I realized I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday afternoon, so I took that off, too. And we had Friday off. So I had a 2 1/2 day week. That's how you ease back in. :)

Now that I think of it, I do have a doctor's appt. Tuesday morning, which will involve taking a half day off. Even though it's no big deal if I were to be gone an hour or so, we have to take a half day. This means a stop at Bojangles after the fasting blood work. An, egg and cheese biscuit, how I adore you.

I have a ton of vacation days, but can only take them on days there are no students, which is pretty much never. A workday here and there. If I take a personal day, I get docked the cost of a sub. Such a pain.

The Middle Sister bottle is adorable--I bought it just for the bottle and am keeping that one for myself. The others are really tasty wines. Can't find
one of my favorites (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/checkers65477/wine.jpg) anymore, it would have been an awesome lamp.

Ooh what's the dress like? Red? I saw Emma's red shoes on fb the other day and thought of you. I disbelieve entirely you need shapewear.

The mosaic is beautiful. I love how Ozzie looks like he's dancing in the sun.

This is the dress (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=25789&vid=3&pid=903117&scid=903117002)--it's black and trust me, is not short on me like it is on the 7-ft tall model wearing it.

Did not notice until I got it home that it really needs a slip underneath. Do I own a slip? Not one that would work. I wore it with the heels I wear once a year or so, but it looks really cute with flats, too.

Thanks, I tried to make Ozzie look like he was happily heading off to a new, better place. Gosh, I still miss him so much. The kittens I have my eye on aren't quite ripe yet; will keep you updated!

Oooh I like that! It's classy, interesting AND worksafe.

*hugs* I compiled all the conversations I had with Philia by email into a file and I forgot all cat anecdotes we'd swap. Makes me miss them both sigh.
