Passionfruit are great! They taste wonderful with white chocolate mousse. Otherwise, just slice it in half, and eat the seeds and syrup inside. Not much to look at, but it tastes great. Or at least, i think so. :)
Ok, thanks, Ro. I'll give it a try. Wish I had some white chocolate mousse, but I'll have to eat it without. Good thing the store put stickers on them that said "ripe when wrinkled." Otherwise I would have thought there was something wrong with it.
It hasn't inspired me with much passion about it so far. :)
:) I think with me it was that the fruit reminded me of the passion flowers which used to grow outside my grandparent's house. Passion flowers are beautiful, and smell divine:
As Rowana said, you can just cut them in half and eat them with a spoon. Because they grow all over the place here that's what we usually do. Otherwise they're great toppings on lots of stuff, like that cake of mine, ice cream etc. Never tried it with white chocolate mousse but am drooling at the thought.
The good thing about them is although they're ugly it's hard to get a bad passionfruit - you don't need to fuss about selecting them as much.
I'm not sure--it was very tart. The taste reminded me of grapefruit, actually. I liked it, but I think I would have liked it even more on top of some white chocolate mousse.
It was expensive. $2 for the darn thing. But if I put it on mousse, it would so impress my friends.
If you need a lot of passionfruit for a recipe (and they still cost that much) perhaps you could look for tinned passionfruit pulp - I've used that before and it was good!
Butting in here...

:) But I can see how people might not enjoy the fruit. They are quite tangy, and they look a little odd.
